Do Not Go to Dantanna's Downtown (ATL)!

Due to circumstances beyond Fore!BlackGolfers’ control, the “Wales, Whisky & Woods” British Open viewing party scheduled for July 18 (noon-3 p.m.) at Dantanna’s Downtown in Atlanta is cancelled.
Please alert any acquaintances who had planned to attend the event not to bother. Dantanna’s Downtown has made a last-minute disclosure about costs that invited guests could incur at the bar. None of the details about charging invited guests a fee to “sample the finest Scotch whisky” or to “try the Tiger Punch” were related to this site in time enough to warn all invitees off.
The previously undisclosed pricing terms for beverages that Dantanna’s Downtown has set strike me as a disservice to all those who had been enticed by the advertisements that the restaurant created and provided for mass distribution.
On behalf of the Fore!BlackGolfers network I apologize for any inconvenience this change of plans presents. If I had known that Dantanna’s Downtown intended to charge guests for the drink menu it conceived and detailed in the flyer provided , Fore!BlackGolfers would not have been involved in the promotion of this event.

ADDENDUM: Golf fans react angrily to the Dantanna's Downtown "British Open Bait-and-Switch" scenario...

"Scott...that's fucked up...you should alert a friend at the AJC about this, well, fraud. Management at Dantanna's made the wrong choice." Dan B

"What a bi-atch!!Does ForeBlackGolfers have women?"Jennifer F

"Wow!!! Not good. Why don't you just host at your house instead ;)." Lisa T

"Lemme know when you just wanna grab a drink or two or three or four at Dakota Blue!" Wayne D

"Wow- very uncool." Carolyn S

I'm not the least bit surprised that the poseurs at dantanna's did an 11th hour 180 - in fact, despite what the flyer said i wasnt expecting freebies from them - theyre not the type - anyway Tiger has a better shot of winning the PGA so i'm really looking forward to a PGA Champ. viewing party at a more suitable venue - i thought the marketing of this event was super but the management of future events should be kept mainly in the hands of foreblackgolfers.com personnel rather than the bar owners

Dantanna's Defense said...

None of what is being posted on here is a fair representation of the miscommunication that occurred. Dantanna's NEVER offered, implied nor indicated that free drinks were part of the deal. When Fore! Black Golfers indicated their displeasure at the fact that Dantanna's was offering all food for guests for free but not the aclohol, a round for everyone, to be paid for by Dantanna's publicists was even offered, but Mr. Walton decided to cancel the event as he felt all food and alcohol should be free...not a single piece of marketing material indicated any alcohol was to be complimentary (this violates liquor license laws), nor was free alcohol ever discussed with Mr. Walton. Dantanna's is being very unfairly portrayed in the description being provided, as both sides of this very two-sided story are NOT being told.

Dantanna's defense is flawed!
Dantanna's was lazy and negligent in its administration of the proposed event.
If Dantanna's intent was to charge guests $7 per cup of the "Tiger Punch" it invited guests to "try" it should have made that intent perfectly clear in the flyer it created and provided for distribution. The same goes for the $22 Dantanna's intended to charge guests to "sample" whisky.
Furthermore, Dantanna's never once stepped in to offer correction when the offer of FREE whisky and Tiger Punch was being publicized on a frequent basis leading up to the scheduled event.
Apparently, Dantanna's never bothered to read any of the free publicity it was receiving. (All of which stressed that food and beverages were both to be provided free of charge.) How Dantanna's can pretend to defend such gross oversight is unimaginable.
Now that Dantanna's negligence and questionable tactics have been exposed, it's been quick to respond; however untruthfully.
Bottom line: if Dantanna's had been forthcoming about its plans to charge certain amounts for beverages, that information should been included on the invitation and expressed directly to those publicizing the event.
Dantanna's dropped the ball, forced the cancellation of the event and should own up to its failure to communicate anything of importance until the last possible moment.
Furthermore, Dantanna's should have the courage to speak out in a manner that's not "anonymous".

One last note to Dantanna's:
If Dantanna's management persists in its failure to take responsibility for the debacle that was the ill-fated British Open viewing party, I will have no other choice than to reveal the stream of e-mails that were exchanged during the build-up to the event.
The public will then know fully how lax the Dantanna's operation is run and what people in Dantanna's employ truly feel about the organization.
